Are there lefty vs right handed pickups, or are they just flipped? Thinking about an upgrade for my Affinity to some Texas Specials, then it dawned on me there'd be an issue.

Thanks,

Brian

as far as i know there are pick ups that don't suffer this difference.
while old type of pick ups may suffer the inversion due to the structure of the poles.

for example lace sensors ( red, silver, blue ).. but i might be mistaken.

i'm left handed.

let's wait a guru's answer :)

Greetings Brian.

Some pickups are, 'ambidextrous' so to speak but unfortunately, Texas Specials are not as their bottoms are (loosely speaking) triangular shaped. In your particular situation, you would have to install them upside down but the wood cutouts in your guitar's body might not allow it as they too may be triangular shaped. So, if you're set on the Texas Specials, you'd have to do some routing to these cutouts, expanding them so the pickups would fit.

Examples of what I'm talking about:

As others have mentioned, sometimes they are the same and sometimes they are not the same...and another example of they are not the same would be the case of some strat and other style pickups that have non-adjustable and each at different heights, polepieces...

I appreciate the help, guys. I asked the same question to the tech center at Musician's Friend, and mentioned and the response I got was:

"Thank you for your recent inquiry. The picks are the same height wise on the left and the righty. These picks will work with your guitar."

So I guess he's saying the pole heights are the same all the way across?

Opinions?

Thanks,

Brian
