HI?
Just bought a 1990 Fender Stratocaster Plus, 3 gold Lace sensors.
But the gold letters on the sensors are so good as gone, and their are in a ugly nicotine yellow, can these pick up covers be ordered after market as a Fender original part?
Mine are the first Lace sensors, plain, so without the cavity where the letters fit, like on the later models.

thenk you very much.

Hello!

I not 100% on this but I don't think you can swap the covers on lace sensors without damaging the pup.

I don't think you can either, and frankly, I would leave it. The original Golds were really good, the yellowing and fading are a standard byproduct of these models and actually give them a little "vibe."

Thank you very much for your tips.
The guy I bought the Plus from didin't keep his Strat in a good condition, and was actually very dirty and not looked after for many years. it stayed in its case uncleanded
When I cleaned it,it was like all yellow risidue who came of, I think that was nicotine, there where even stains of instant glue on the body!!

But ok, after several hours of cleaning and polishing is the guitar finally clean and looking really great. I also had to repair the bridge, the whammy-bar woulden't fit anymore, so I took the whole bridge appart, refitted the chrome piece at its exact place, so that the whammy-bar fit the alluminim block again, cleaned the saddles, screws and springs, and made the bridge chrome pieces shine like new again.

I will replace the pick-guard and backplate with new ones, because they are really to dirty and can't be cleaned properly. I also will replace the rusty screws, put all these old original parts in a bag and keep them for later, at least I will have a clean and nice looking guitar, what is a nice thing about Fender guitars, you can always find the right replacement part(s).

I'am really looking forward to many years and many hours of enjoying this Fender Strat Plus, and she can retire with my other Fender guitars, I'am sure she will love her new home.

Thank you very much for your reply

Hi, thank you very much for the replies you've posted.
Along the way, I changed my mind and decided to keep the Strat plus version one so original possible, and I succeeded....
I did clean the plastic parts, pickguard, backplate, with the household cleanser Cif diluted in a little water on a cloth, by rubbing gently I could remove all the ugly nicotine stains and the other filth, after cleaning them, much to my surprise, I got clean, but beautifull aged plastic parts(as they should be after 20years).
I even did the body with Cif, cleaned the body really good but gently, it even removed small scratches. (first check out with Cif on a small spot under the pickguard).
The slightly rusted and blackened pickguard screws where cleaned by doing them in a little bit of a coke beverage for a few hours, they shine as new.
Finally I gave the Strat plus a guitarwax treatment, and ... it shines as new
At first I did order new Fender parts: screws, pickguard, backplate but I won't be needing them, the Strat plus has came out beautifully and with it's normally aged parts looks great and most of all it is completely original!!!!...
So you see, with a little love for a instrument that had been neglected for so many years by its former owner, some cheap household products, a few hours of cleaning, you can come to a beautifull result..
So, now I'm gonna enjoy my Strat plus brownburst for many, many years, they are great guitars and have that beautifull sound. the Strat plus is already adopted by my other USA Fender guitars, as a blueburst 1989 Telecaster plus first version.
My new project: a 1968 lake placid blue Fender Mustang, that was been cut up by it's former owner to fit a humbucker in the bridge position!

Greetz,
Fenderastic.
