Hi all, i dropped my guitar into the tech today, and amongst other things, asked him to do some readings to see whether they were tex specials or not. My question is, since my strings are 9-42's, will this affect the end readings at all?
Thanks, Ray

If I remember correctly in order to test the resistance of a pickup that's wired up you have to select a pickup other then the one you are testing, if it isn't connected you just test the leads so therefore strings have no bearing on the results.

Also, I think Texas Specials are the only pickups that have a yellow lead on the middle pickup so you should be able to determine if they are by looking at them. If they are aftermarket they should have a Custom Shop logo on them.

Fat 50's, 57/62 ( installed in production guitars ) and Tex Mex middles have yellow positive wires as well.

The reading is measuring resistance of the wire ( a LONG coil of it) from one end to the other, that's it.

There is really nothing else that can effect that for the most part, save for temperature but that's not a very big factor.
