Hello folks,

Thinking about changing the Hot Alnico´s III pups for the following options:

Option 1:
Neck: Custom Shop 69´
Middle: CS Fat 50´RW
Bridge: CS Texas Special

Option 2:
Neck: Custom Shop 69´
Middle: Custom Shop 69´
Bridge: CS Texas Special

Option 3:
Neck: Custom Shop 69´
Middle: Custom Shop 69´
Bridge: Custom Shop 54'

Option 4:
Neck: Custom Shop 69´
Middle: Custom Shop 69´
Bridge: Custom Shop Fat 50'

Option 5:
Neck: Custom Shop 69´
Middle: Custom Shop 69´
Bridge: Seymour Duncan SSL-5

Besides holding its value overtime by a well made pickup customization, my goal for tone is from Jimi Hendrix to Pink Floyd. Show me your thoughts people. Any suggestions will be welcome.

Why not put a complete set of 69, Fat 50's or Texas Specials in your strat, for sound calibration, because pick-ups can vary in sound allot when interswitched, and nothing is more enoying when switching, for example to the bridge pick-up that this one gives a total different sound and volume towards the other pick-ups in your guitar.

I also own a Highway one with the grease bucket alnico III pick-ups and really I would'nt change them for anything else, I compared them to my Strat with CS Texas Specials, and really the Highway really kicks hard and powerfull, the pick-us are a little darker in sound compared to the bell's sound in the CS TS ,but they are also really very versatile. I always play my Fender guitars clean, except from a little reverb, but of course if you intent to play with distortions and other, don't bother to change them, it's money thrown away, the beautifull (bell) sounds of the Custom shop pick-ups will disapear in the sludge.

Usefull moneysavers.
-To have the sound of your guitar idols, check out the gear they use(d).
-The sound of the amp is also very important.
-Try fiddleling a little bit with the knobs of your amp(s), it opens another world.

Many friendly regards,
Fenderastic.

A stock Fender Highway 1 Strat is very capable of getting the tones you want. There are other factors involved.
Changing the pickups makes it a modified non-original Highway 1 Strat and will actually lower the value.

Personally I did not care for the Grease Bucket Circuit in my Highway 1, So I rewired.
