Have my Tokai Goldstar (1964 Stratocaster replica) all disassembled for cavity shielding and replacement pots and pickups. Upon removing solder I see the tone pots are Audio taper and the volume is Linear taper.

I'm either going to use the pots out of a '62 reissue Strat (they are dime size and all read A250K), or I may buy some quarter size CTS pots.

Kinda of confused about the audio and linear taper thing. What do I want for a volume?

Thanks for all help!

Normally Fender uses all Audio. I believe audio are the most popular.

Gibson does some mix and match.

My personal choice would be audio taper.

Go with audio (aka logarithmic taper) pots. By either name, they should have an 'A' stamped or etched somewhere on the pot.
