Hello!

Have you wired the Duncan yet? If so...

..You should be fine using the clapton wiring diagram. Your 5 switch stays the same, you just need to replace the pots and take the hot from the 5 way to the TBX etc.

As long as you can solder and make sure you have enough room in your cavity to fit everything you shouldn't have any problems.

Hope this helps

Enjoy!

Andy

The pearly gates and texas specials came with the guitar. The pick up selector is twice the size of a normal five way selector. ( because of the humbucker I think) and with four wire leads instead of two coming off the humbucker, I'm confused!

No worries dude! You have a 5 way super switch which allows you to split the coils on the Humbucker. If i'm right you should get the front coil in parallel with the middle pickup in position 4 on your 5 way and the Humbucker in series in postion 5. I think your wiring should look something like the following:

http://www.fender.com/support/diagrams/ ... 02CPg2.pdf

What you need to do is remove the wires that connect the two tone pots from the Super switch. Then remove all the pots and follow the clapton diagram.

I think that should do the trick. Without seeing your current wiring i'm not a 100% so if anyone can confirm the above please do so!

Hope this helps

Andy

Thanks for your Help!!
What's the difference between the fat strat and lone star strat?
Both diagrams have completely different wiring diagrams.
When I bought this it had an after market push pull potentiometer.
I think to use all pick-ups at once?
Anyways neither of these diagrams match the insides of my guitar.
Can I utilize the push pull potentiometer?
Thanks!

Hello!

No worries! Happy to help where i can.

Yes you can keep the push pull pot IF its the postioned as the lower tone pot and its a 250k then use it as the Mid boost volume. Just leave the wires attached to the 6 lower poles on the pot connected to the super switch. The push pull switch is a nice mod. I've used it to engage the bridge pickup allowing 2 more pup combinations (1.bridge and neck pups 2. bridge, middle and neck) though I prefer a ST/DP switch to achive the same results

I know that when you first turn over a sratchplate and see a mass of wires it can be a bit scary BUT fear not. What you are trying to achive is totally possible. If it helps, I sometimes make a drawing of the wiring and highlight what i need to change. This should help you to visualise what needs to be done.

If you look closely the Lone star and the Fat strat (texas special) diagrams you'll see they have the same wiring. Maybe different pickups, hardware....anyway

So a re-cap. Remove your volume and middle tone pot and disconnect the wires from the top 3 lugs of your push pull pot. Install the 50k volume and TBX that came with the kit and follow the clapton diagram.

I could really do with a pic of your current wiring but I like a challenge! Nobodys corrected me on the above so-far....so until then I'll presume its good advice!

Let me know how you get on or if you have any more questions.

Enjoy

Andy

Hello!

Ok..Firstly, Here's how to post pics

http://www.fender.com/community/forums/faq.php#24

It would've been handy to see the wiring before you installed the mid-boost.

Secondly...If you are unsure or have any doubts, Don't rush it! Take your time, do more research, and If its still causing you issues take it to a guitar tech and have a chat with them. They should give you a quote to carry out the works. Remember i'm not 100% sure.

Good luck! As before I'll help where and if I can.

Andy
