To make, they both cost about the same. As far as which one costs more over the counter is directly related to its popularity. The Hots seem to be the favorite of the two as of this typing.

Both coils of both models are similar with the Hots having a few more winding on their coils. The big thing here though is that you're dealing with Alnico magnets in the Vintage vs. Ceramic magnets in the Hot. Alnico magnets sound more 'musical' and well rounded whereas Ceramic sound more aggressive and 'in your face'.

As to which is best? Construction wise, they both are pretty frail. As to which sounds best, I'll defer that to others.

I don't know if I'll be any help, but since I have guitars with both sets in them, I'll give you my observations.

Both sound great clean or dirty, the main difference in in the voicing. The Hot Noiseless have a little more output and a little more presence in the mids. The output difference isn't huge, but you can tell. The difference in the tone is much more noticeable, however. To my ears, the Vintage Noiseless have a more "bell-like" clean tone with a more open driven sound, whereas the Hot Noiseless have a more "chime-like" clean tone with a slightly tighter, more focused, and thicker driven sound.

IMHO, either one is a great upgrade for most off-the-shelf Strats. You may also want to try the SCN Strat pickups. I don't have a set of them, but I've played them, and I like them. I think they're sort of a middle ground between Vintage and Hot Noiseless. Remember, this is all just opinion, there are guys out there that can't stand Fender's Noiseless pickups. You really should try to play them in person if at all possible.

3 excellent, concise responses are above. As to expense...
On the Bay I've seen more Vin Noiseless than Hot Noiseless for sale as whole sets. For one single pup, the Vin Noiseless Bridge pup is the most easily found, and therefore the least expensive. Perhaps people are using a humbucking in the bridge and selling off the Vin Noiseless bridge pup, just my observation.

I own A Set Of Hot Noiseless Pickups And They sound as well as "Musical" As "Screamy" "In Your Face" Depending In the Tone Which By The Way Has The Biggest Range.
