Hi All,
I'm looking to return my strat to vintage tone as I currently have the EMG DG-20s in and totally miss that vintage Fender tone. I'm looking to hit the 60s type of pop rock but would love to be able to play that trebly modern indie sound (i.e. Strokes, Kings of Leon, Wombats, Arctic Monkeys). What set do you think would fit the best?

CS Fat 50s
CS 54s
57/62s
or
CS 69s

Thanks for the help everyone.

Lank

If you're looking for 60s type pop rock with a trebly sound, IMO, it would be the CS 69s, all the way.

Alnico 5 generally has more output, Alnico 2 or 3 generally has a sweeter top end and interferes less with string vibration (added sustain).

The Alnico 3 seems to have more mids than the Alnico 2... at least in the pickups I've tried.

Good call on the CS69s-they are versatile-great neck tone and they do well with pedals--I don't mind the bridge tone either--it is all in the adjustment-use the standard vintage spec for that-otherwise, "Stratitis" will surely come your way.
