OK so I was bored. I bought myself a S/H mexican strat and took it to pieces. I am fitting a mid boost kit and lace sensors. The problem is there are so many wiring diagrams. Some show TBX control in the lower position (on the pickguard) and caps on both pots, others with wiring into both sides of the 5 way switch.

I am wiring as per my Clapton custom shop with noisless pups but then looked at the Lace website and they show a completeyl different version. I understand that there are switching options and I will probably play with these at a later date but for now I want a good basic set up to try. I am currentl working with the wiring diagram from this site dated 04-04-2001 which matches waht is actually happening inside my Clapton Strat.

Any thoughts welcome.

It is not unusual to have several variations of a wiring scheme where all achieve virtually the same end; kind of like, "All roads lead to Rome" and all that. If I were you, I'd continue the course you are on. Not only do you have a verified, accurate diagram in front of you, but an actual working guitar to proof it against.

You're welcome.

As to the router, I presume this is for the battery cavity. Be extremely careful with a router, especially if you've never used one before. Frankly, you'd probably be better off using a Dremel Tool if this is all you are requiring a router for.

I just installed the pre-amp mid boost with Gold Lace Sensors to my new American Standard. It sounds great. I also ran into different wiring diagrams. I found the best one at blue guitar, here's the link-
http://www.blueguitar.org/new/schem/_gt ... layout.jpg
I also used pictures that were posted on Ebay by a store(Sigler) selling pickup loaded pick guards. They had great pictures of the active mid boost connections to the stereo jack that I needed. The directions that came with it weren't very clear. And that jack work's as the on and off switch. Good luck

I put it all together without routing a space for the PCB to see what it sounds like. The PCB prevents the battery going into its pocket so I will have to make another pocket on the front of the guitar fro the Mid boost PCB.

But what a sound. The blue neck pick up with mid boost on half is just soulful. Not so happy with the red bridge. might try a twin rail, any thoughts.

But was it worth doing? Certainly. It won't replace my 'Todd Kraus' because I ain't no 'Todd Krause' but it is certainly a really nice guitar.

NB. I unpacked a new set of super slinkys that I have had fir a while to find that some have gone rusty!

REDTOP: That's the best wiring diagram that I've seen, thanks. I had to work it out from various sources but it looks as though I got it right. I love it when the just send all the wires to the jack socket with no mention of where the connections are :o

Unless you bought your new PUP set through Lace, i'd be careful when using their diagrams. Is your new set Fender Lace Sensors or just Lace Sensors? they might be different since Lace started their own PUP line. Either way, they are great PUPs.
