.1uf, 50V.

Thanks for the info :)

So what should I expect in sound/tone difference from using a .047uf instead of a .1uf?

How will this effect the transition from lows to highs using the tone knob?

Glad to help.

Your's will sound a bit brighter. If you ran two .047uf caps side by side in parallel, you'd achieve .094uf which would be virtually indistinguishable from .1uf.

To add to the topic:

The cap value really doesn't come into play untill the tone pot is turned.
That is, when the tone is on 10, it really doesn't matter what cap is there.

>How will this effect the transition from lows to highs using the tone knob<

As far as tone effect, a lesser value cap will bleed off less high signal to ground as the pot is turned.

So a .047µF will not get as dark, as a .1µF

a .022µF will not get as dark as a .047µF

Also with a lesser value cap you will notice the tone change will not happen as fast either, so you have a more gradual change you could say.

Pickups where quite bright back then ( hence the .1), in the 60's Fender went to .047 and currently uses .022.

It just depends on personal taste along with what pickups you have that determans what to go with.

Everyone seemed to clear up my lack of knowledge about capacitors nicely! Yep I will install the .047 since I prefer a more gradual change when turning the tone knob. I bought 2 so if I want to bump it up to .094 I can do that at a later date.

Thanks again
