I want to purchase a Fender Custom Shop Fast 50's middle pickup and dont know what color the wire leads are for the middle position. I want to make sure that I am purchasing the correct pickup and I would think that the wire leads are the best indicator based on their different colors. If there is another indicator please let me know. Thanks

Although they have the RW/RP middle pickup, the color coding for this set is all the same: Black = negative, white = positive.

Prior to installation the simplest indicator would be for you try gently and briefly placing the presumed RW/RP on top of one of the other two 'regular' pickups. If the polepieces repel instead of attracting, you know it is RW/RP. Again, do this gently and briefly as the magnetic repulsion will weaken each other's magnets if you prolong this test.

For the Fat 50s set since the middle pickup is RW/RP it will have a black wire and a yellow wire (instead of the normal white). the yellow indicates its a RW/RP pickup.

Neck PU - Black & White
Middle PU - Black & Yellow
Bridge PU - Black & White

Thomas is right.

Also the 50's neck pup has a blue dot on the back of a pole and the bridge a red dot.

As far as polarity use a compass, if the needle points north, the magnets are south polarity.

I think on some strats the B&N are south and the mid is north; if the set has a RW/RP that is.
