Okay this is what's going on I bought a new Yngwie guitar and it has a bad case of stratitis. I have lowered my pickups all the way to the pick guard to minimize the warbling on the G/D/A/E string from the 12 fret and higher. Now the output is so low you can't hear it.

So what I'm thinking about doing is replacing the pickups with Dimarzio Heavy Blues 2's. I've been told the sound similar to the YJM and HS-3 with more output and less magnetic pull. Has anyone else had this issue and replaced the pickups? if so with what? I would like keep the sound as close as possible to the YJM and HS-3. My style is rock/hard rock/metal type

I would appreciate any advise and ideas.

Thanks!!

Welcome!

Treat the cause and keep your pickups. Here's a cure for Stratitis:

With new strings, place the guitar flat on your lap. With both hands side by side, gently and evenly push down on all 6 strings until the strings are gently and simultaneously touching all three pickups' magnets for their respective string. Now, gently and ever so slowly and evenly, start relieving the hands pressure until the strings have been restored to their natural position. What you have done is synchronized the pickups' magnetic flux. In other words, instead of formerly having 18 polepieces, each and all, doing their own thing magnetically, they are now all working together as one magnetically.

Yes, with one 'but': For those who use an unwound G string, if they are using pickups with the 'vintage' high G string polepiece in them, all three pickups must be adjusted to accommodate that the G string being far enough away from its polepiece to prevent this. Otherwise, if one adjusts the three pickups for where the distance from the polepieces to all the other strings is optimized, that G string polepiece shall be way too close to the string and you're back where you started.

I got the same problem and read ur cure, still I got some questions.
1. Do I have to push all strings at one time or single string?
2. String must touch all 3 pups simultaneously? When releasing I think it can not get of the polepiece at both sides at 1 time.

It would be cool if u could make video! If it really solves the problem, u r genious!

Happy New Year guys!

Depress ALL the strings simultaneously to where all are touching their respective polepieces of all three pickups simultaneously.

As you release the pressure, do so slowly and gradually. All the strings do not have to come off all the polepieces at the exact same instant. Keep the already freed strings as close their polepieces without touching until the remainder of the strings are released from their polepieces.

I'm an old fart. You're lucky I know how to use a computer, let alone figure out how to make a video!LOL I thank you for your compliment though.

Happy New Year to you too!

Well I tried to press all strings but its unreal when guitar is in tune. Then I tried just G string but I guess it had no effect.

One more thing: this procedure is usually done with guitar connected to working amp or not?

Just the G string alone is no good, it's all or nothing.

Press down on your tremolo arm to loosen the strings and manipulate them towards the pickups better. If you need a, "third hand", ask someone to help you.

Having the guitar amplified is irrelevant. This is totally about the in-unison magnetic pull of the pickups' polepieces on the strings.
