Anyone here use DiMarzio in their Tele's?

If so, then what model and could you tell me about it please?

Cheers,

CC

I've used the Pre B-1 and the Twang King neck.

In short, the Pre B-1 sounds like a P-90.

The Twang King sounds like a great Tele neck pickup should without all the mud. It is nice and crisp and IMO, the best single coil Tele neck pickup that can be had. The closest I can compare it to is a very late 60s Tele sound.

On the advice of Martian I bought a Twang King neck and (sort of against his advice) a True Velvet bridge. I was after that 'Hallelujah' chiminess, but I confess I've not fitted either yet, so I can't be of any more help other than to say listen to Martian... he seems to know what he's talking about, but then I guess you already know that CC. :)

Twang King it is then! I've been listening to examples. Lovely!
Thanks guys.

I don't know how you went against my advice, I simply reported the ones I've used in my Teles.

The True Velvet is a very nice pickup. It is a culmination of what DiMarzio, Inc. interprets as the best tonalities of traditional Tele pickup throughout the years.

Me, I cannot stand a wimpy bridge pickup and that's why I chose the Pre B-1; not that the True Velvet is wimpy, mind you. I just have a phobia for bridge pickups, especially in Teles that can't at least, equal the audible output of a neck pickup along with a compatible tonality so that I don't have to set my amp to one pickup or the other for optimum tonality while at the same time, sacrificing one for the other. YMMV.

I think you suggested something other than the True Velvet for me, but I'm glad you think it's okay. From reading some of your posts I think we have similar tonal tastes.

Did you see my recent thread on Strat pup recommendations for a 2009 MIM Standard? No replies (sob!). Was thinking something vintage, but might have posted it prematurely – the Standard pups sound pretty good.

(Sorry to hijack the thread!)

Actually, I didn't see your other post with the no replies. I'll reconnoiter forthwith!
