The Mexican Vintage (MV) set you have now are not wound as much as the 57/62s which mean they are slightly weaker and have a higher end shift than that of the 57/62s. (Note: I am presuming your MVs have Alnico magnets.) On their own, the MVs capture a non-specific yet desirable Pre-CBS tonality. Is the difference radical and worth the extra money for 57/62's? No. Just because yours are not US made doesn't mean they are any less valid or worthy than a 57/62. A slight tweak of your amp will get you the 57/62 tonality without the 57/62's (now) overly loud G string to boot. Unless 'across the board' you are looking for a specific Strat sound, your MVs will serve you well for many years to come.

I love the tone of the 57/62s....they definetely have a distinctively different tone from the regular mexican reissue pickups. They seem slightly hotter in the upper mids with a lot of detail in the highs.More ballsy twang to them with a vintage flavour. The Mexican ones sound more balanced eq wise...they remind me a bit of the tex mex pickups but a little clearer.

By MIM Vintage are you talking about what would be in the 50's 60's 70's Classic Series ?

id est:

3 Vintage Style Single-Coil Strat® Pickups with Staggered, Alnico Magnet Pole Pieces and Aged Covers

I just bought a 50's Strat and love the Strat bell/chime.

I have another MIM I put 57/62's in and love those too.

In a way they sound somewhat simular tone wise although I haven't spent much time doing a A/B, not that it matters to me one vs. the other.

I haven't done any height sdjustments to the Classic yet either.

I have been very courius to try a set of CS 69's so am thinking this 50's I just got would be the platform for that.

I am not searching for arything in particulare tone wise, I just like to try different pups.

I have a Std. Tele and two Nashville Tele's and have been through about 7 pup sets in them (so far Ha).

I guest you could say I'm the type that gets bored with pickups and never unplugs the 'ol solder gun !
