Hi all,

I am thinking of putting a SD phat cat (only nickel or gold covers) in the bridge position a modstrat.

The problem is: Both vintage gotoh tuners and the phat cat are nickel plated, but the vintage tremolos and jacks made by fender are all chrome plated...

Does anybody think it will show? What could I do about it,taken into consideration that I would like to have 100% Fender hardware.

grtz.

It DEFINITELY will be noticeable. If it bothers you that much, you could:

Remove the cover of the Phat Cat and simply leave it off. I presume the bobbin underneath to be black plastic.

Or, remove the cover, take it to a place that would chrome plate it and then reinstall it. Unfortunately, this will probably void any warranty.

Or, if you're looking for a P-90 sound, buy an outright P-90 with a chrome cover and have a custom pickguard made to accommodate it.

Or, buy a single coil pickup which emulates a P-90 sound such as a Seymour Duncan SSL-6 and if you want a 'hot' P-90 sound, an SSL-3 instead. (Either of these would be my choice.)
