Anyone know about coil tapping the RI Wide Range Humbucker?

Thinking about it.

Cheers.

Actually, the pickup is potted so you can't unwind nor tap into the coils without ruining them.

If you mean, being able to have series, parallel and single coil capabilities from this pickup, this you can do. As a matter of fact, I used to do this all the time to Telecaster Basses back in the early '70s when Fender switched from the single coil to the WR HB.

You'd have to remove the cover, undo the soldered link wire which joins the two coils together and then undo the lead from the coil which goes to the shielded braid. Splice onto each of them (with insulation, of course) with a separate color coded wire (so you know which is the in and out wire from which coil), leaving each wire long enough to where they will reach your switching device(s). Note that you'll have to route these wires out of the pickup in such a way that you'll be able to have them safely exit the pickup and at the same time, you'll be able to properly resolder and replace the cover without impinging upon them.

I recommend metering the coils once you've completed your splicing, have routed them out of the pickup and after restoring the cover. Of course, after all is said and done, the pickup must be repotted.

As you now know, there's nothing to it!!

Yeah, it's a single coil option I'm looking.

Big help man! Thank you!
