Could you give me an idea of what the "Tex-Mex" sound is like? I have a Standard Strat made in Mexico, is that what you're talking about?

In vague generalities, the "Tex-Mex" sound is akin to what a newer, typical Strat or Tele with Alnico pickups sounds like but with slightly more high end 'sizzle' (and hum) to it.

Your Strat may have either ceramic magnets or alnico magnets, one or the other, depending on the year and specific model.

Your best bet in addition to Google is to also check out YouTube and listen to some of the samplings players have contributed for the various pickups.
