My dad and I are doing a father and son Jaguar bulid. He is retired and lives in Minnesota and I am here in Cleveland so we are doing this long distance.
I bought the 1:1 plans and was wondering if some of the parts I have will fit.
I have a 1964 Mustang control plate (volume treble input) will this fit?

:? :? :? :? :? :? :? :? :?

I am also picking up the other parts here and there along with the other odds and ends.

We are still trying to decide what would to build the body out of, (zebra wood etc..) and will probably pick out a custom built Warmoth neck.
It doesn't have to look exactly like a Fender,. I have always wanted a Jaguar, but the scratch always turned me off.
And beside we get to build it together and I can get exactly what I want.

Congrats on your project, I'm sure it's going to be a lot of fun!

The Mustang plate is considerably smaller than the Jaguar's so no, they aren't interchangeable. Consider this though: If you are building a custom design and possibly a custom pickguard, you and Dad may be able to branistorm a design where you still can use the Mustang plate. The crux of it all would rest on the size of the controls' cutout of the body.

With body woods, you'd have to really read through Warmoth's descriptions of them and how they intrinsically sound tonally. And then, there's the neck interaction, the pickups and hardware considerations too as everything affects everything.

I agree with you on the scratch, it is pretty nasty, isn't it?

Best of luck with your project!!!

Always a pleasure Martian, Thanks. I will go shopping for the Jag parts. We are still going back and forth on the Tone woods. I love the Jaguars but yeah, they are a bit more than I want to spend.
