Apparently, the screw has separated from it's threaded hole in the base of the pickup.

Premising the threaded hole in the base of the pickup is NOT stripped or cracked, there is a spring which is probably floating around inside the guitar. With the screw still mounted through the pickguard, this spring should be reinstalled on the screw underneath the pickguard and above the pickup's base. Once this is accomplished, the screw should be reinstalled in the threaded hole in the base of the pickup for proper function of the screw to resume.

Premising the threaded hole in the base of the pickup is stripped or split, this hole must be repaired prior to the remedy in the preceding paragraph.

Obviously, you'll have to see what's going on underneath the pickguard for diagnosis.
