Hi there, i have got some SCN that i put in my John Mayer strat, now the trouble begins, i have followed the wiring diagram to a tee, and have also taken the guitar to my fender dealer, and they have also not been able to help me, the pickups work, BUT positions 2 and 4 sound VERY treblish, and my fender dealer said it may be out of phase, anyway it doesn't sound right, as i've heard SCN pickups on fender custom shop pro strats, and they sound great, i would like some help here, does anyone have the wiring scheme for this that works? i have the one you get with the pickups, help me!!!

jonah75,

In my previous post (see link below) have some links about the wiring diagram of Fender Stratocaster Deluxe that use SCN Pickups with S-1 Scheme of potenciometers and capacitors.

http://www.fender.com/community/forums/ ... 036#330036

I hope this help you to fix the problem.

Kind Regards,

Hi Fernando, thanks for the quick reply, i had read your post late last night, but i don't have S-1 switching, that's sorta the thing, i have a john mayer strat, i dont know how it's wired different or not to a classic strat, but i just need the very basic wiring, and or tips, clues to what i am not seeing. i had a new ceramic tone capacitor put in, but that didn't change anything, my pots are all CTS 250k.

The question is why put SCN's in a JM strat? Especially when the big dippers are such a sort after pickup.

If positions 2 and 4 are dramatically weaker than the other three and these two positions possess a hollow, nasally sound void of any appreciable bass, that middle pickup may very well be out of phase with the other two. Try reversing the ground and hot leads of that middle pickup and see what happens.
