Hey everyone!

I have a problem. I own a stratocaster, I think it was called california series, but I can't remember exactly since the headstock has been painted over. It's about 8-13 years old and used to sound pretty decent. However, this guitar has taken some abuse over the years. It has been stomped on and set on fire, but it still sounds good acoustically and trough the bridge pickup. Unfortunately the neck microphone couldn't take 200 pounds of human on it and the tone pot works only occasionally, the pickguard is cracked and so on.. However, as most of the guitar is still doing it's job, I'm thinking of bringing it back life.

Anyhow, there is a complete set of used pickups, pots and pickguard readily installed, probably taken off some guitar someone is upgrading. I'm a primarily a bass player so I'm not really sure what's when it comes to guitars. I know the pups have alnico-3 magnets and that the impedances according to the seller are 5,7 kOhm at the neck, 6,0 kOhm in the middle and 6,3 kOhm at the bridge. I checked that there are no pickups separately sold that have alnico-III's so I'm guessing they're nothing to write home about, but the price is really right here. I do not have the ability to try them out.

So would it make sense to buy this set for mostly funk type of playing? I don't use distortion that often, mostly clean and wah sounds and occasional slight overdrive for leads.

So any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

Those sound like they are the Fender Highway 1, alnico 3 Strat pickups. They are decent pickups and should work well in your Strat as well. I'd go for it if the price is reasonable.
