Hello All,

I recently thought about measuring my pick-ups output
But I haven't a clue. What type of tools would be necessary
and whats the process? Do you have to remove the pickup?
Any help, many thanks?

Cheers.

If you don't want to get under the pickguard, you can measure the DC Resistance of the pickups through the output jack.

Just plug a cord in and touch your test probes on the jack at the other end of the cord. Put the volume and tone all the way up. The resistance measurement will be about 2.5% low if you have a 250K Ohm volume pot. So just increase your measurement by a couple percent and that would be about what you'd get if the pickup were out of the circuit.

The only other measurement I take on pickups is the inductance, but I don't know how being in the circuit affects that measurement.

I never tried to measure the voltage output by a pickup when strumming a chord.

Hello Orvilleowner,

I think I'm looking for the inductance numbers.
Do I unsolder the pickups for this type of test?
Will a multimeter do this job? Thanks.

Cheers.
