I lucked into an original '78 Strat, well it's mostly original. The strap buttons are from an American Standard and the string trees are Graph Tech. The pickups don't appear to be original either. The poles are staggered, an obvious sign they are not from '78. They have the vintage stagger. The top edge of the high E, B, A & low E poles are tapered while the D & G poles are square. The pickups are light grey bottoms with a capital "E" stamped on each of them. Theres also a "1" penciled in on the neck pickup, a "2" on the middle and a "3" on the body pickup but this may have been added by the person who swapped them.

Any ideas"

They aren't original, for sure. Sight unseen, and based on your description, they MAY be Guilds.

After some reasearch and help from the FDP I've found out that the entire pickguard assembly is from an old Tokai Springy Sound. The pickups are Dimarzio VS-1's and they sound great!
