Hey All...
Does anyone know if when fitting a SCN neck pickup with s-1 switching, that because the black neg wire needs to run to the s-1 switch is it necessary to ground this to the body cavity on the way to the switch??

Welcome!

It should not be grounded to the body cavity, it should go directly to the switch.

Great thanks for the reply!! I bought a stripped down 2009 Tele deluxe body, there's 3 bays routed out for pickups, the neck and middle are joined and there's a grounding lug next to the middle pickup just before the trace hole to the control bay, it looks as though there was a soldered wire to that lug. Any ideas?? Maybe the shield ground from the neck??

Glad to help.

Fender uses shielding paint on many of their bodies (your's is one of them). The subject lug/wire grounds the body with the rest of the guitar's circuit. It would ultimately be soldered to the back of the volume pot.

Wow, finally getting somewhere. This project has turned out more educational that i thought it would... So the lug in question runs to the back of the volume pot, and what i can make from wiring diagrams the lug in the control bay runs to the back of the tone pot, leaving the lug in the bridge bay to ground the bridge pickup and bridge? Is it necessary to run the last bride lug to the tone pot as well?

ALL lugs should be wired to the volume pot. The one in the bridge bay should have a second wire coming off the lug to ground the bridge itself, thereby tying it into the rest of the grounded circuit.

Sorry to keep bothering you!
After searching through many wiring diagrams from this site and others, most of them that have s-1 switching claim that the ground lugs (Control cavity lug and split bride lug) run to the back of the tone pot? what the go with that ?

You're not bothering me at all.

Typically, most if not all grounds go to the volume pot. In this particular situation though, because of the shape and construction of the S-1 switch, it is more practical and convenient to solder all grounds to the tone pot. So, you can indeed solder all grounds to the tone pot instead without reservation.
