I'm having some problems with uncontrolled feedback w/SCN's in my upgraded-MIM Tele when I kick in the distortion pedal, especially if I'm running my amp (DRRI) above 4. Is this par for the course, or will lowering the pickups help?

I dont think lowering the pickups will help much, maybe a little if the feedback is sustained note type. If its uncontrolable squealing you need to lower the gain and/or volume. Stand further away from the amp too. The DRRI is only 15 watts isnt it? If the volume taper is as bad as the blues jr it could be that your using too much volume for a confined space. My blues jr used to be set at around 2-3 for rehearsall volume.

Thanks for the response. I had been practicing a little too close to the amp, which didn't help. One thing I noticed is the feedback problems generally got better after the amp warmed up after a few minutes. Probably not a good idea to hit the amp with too much gain right after turning it on.
