I have a noobish type question here. When using a 9 volt adapter for a pedal that has a battery installed, does it automatically take power from the adapter and not use up the battery power?

On Boss pedals the battery will act as a backup if your power supply quits or comes unplugged.

All of the pedals I have ever owned use power from the adapter without using any battery power.

I don't keep batteries in the pedals after I bought a Voodoo. Remember too many nasty @$$ed messes as a kid when a battery would start leaking after it'd gotten old. I figure if I lose juice to the adapter, a battery back up ain't doing any good if the amp lost power too.
