I love the Fender forum, and have learned quite a bit over the years from all of you who contribute to it. But I have to say...
The questions about "what sounds best" or "what are the best pickups" are so misleading. What sounds good to one person might sound like dogs being whipped to another. I am just an average player, with a keen ear. I can hear the differences between guitars I own and have played. I honestly can't say I have ever heard a bad Fender guitar sound...ever. Right now, I own and record with 12 different Fender guitars and basses. Each one has it's own particuler tone and timbre. Some are better at clean sounds, and some distorted. Some sound better chording, and some better for solos. Some are stock, and some heavily modified. I purchased a used 1987 MIJ Strat with the intentions of replacing the stock pickups. I thought that they would not be to my liking as I had read many reveiws that state the stock pups are worthless. Once I set up the guitar, I found that I love the stock pups. They sing with a unique voice, and I love the sound. The neck pickup is just wonderful for the blues solos I love.
The point is that no guitar will provide it's owner with ALL the sounds they hear in their head. It is not possible. Each guitar/pickup set has a range of timbres it is capable of producing, and expecting the world from a production instrument is asking too much.
I don't think that any guitars I own sound bad. They are all just colors of tone to be enjoyed and manipulated to our hearts content.

Your posts have been too rational to remain on a guitar forum.

You must leave now!
