Hello! I wonder if someone can shed some light for me.

I bought a set of CS Fat 50s on eBay, advertised as new. The seller has 14,000 positive feedback, all selling guitar parts. They've come in all the right packaging, they've got CS stickers and appropriate coloured dots on, they're wax covered, the wires are correct colours and waxy, the backs of the pickups are black. From looking at them, everything is perfect.

The only thing that's making me suspect something might be off is that I decided to test the resistance of the pickups. The middle pickup is correct at 6.3K exactly, but the neck pickup is testing at 6.5K when it's supposed to be 6.0K, and the bridge is also showing 6.5K when it's supposed to be 6.2K.

Is that within tolerances, do you think, or is something weird going on?

Nobody here: yes, those could be within normal variability. It could also be one of those "specs can change without notice" things.

How did you calibrate your meter?

They're fine. Pickups just aren't that precise. CLose is close enough.

Typical tolerance is + \ - 10%. They are within acceptable limits.

That's lovely, and has given me peace of mind. Thanks guys! I'm just using the neck pickup; I'm wiring a Strat with the setup (or as close as possible) to the new Gilmour strat.
