I have an '08 standard HSS Strat. What height should the pups be for even loud sound. Sometimes the high e string does not sound as loud as the other strings....what should I do raise pups or is it the type of pup?

Yes by all means raise that side of the pick up some, take a screw driver select the appropriate pick up and raise it a bit at a time until you like it,if you get it too high it will hinder the sustain of the strings because the strong magnetic field limits the way in which the string vibrates, you can hear this good luck.cheers

I would think it has to do with how you raise the pickups ... you can try raising the high side a little higher... a LOT of people do that including me :)
