First time posting =)

anyways i have a 2 junk squire strats im going to work on this summer and was wondering what pick-ups would be best for a Jimi Hendrix kind of tone.

Look for some non-ceramic magnet pickups -- that is, pickups with ALNICO magnet pole pieces.

Look for pickups with resistance specs less than 6.0K ohms. There are some "budget" priced pickups in that range. Low output is what you want.

Then you'll need a Marshall amp too ...

I think you would have a lot better luck getting the right amp rather than pickups. I don't think Hendrix gave pickups much thought. Just do some research about what kind of marshall Hendrix had and find something similar...

The Custom '69s are good pickups, but remember that most of Hendrix' signature tones were produced on mid-'60s strats with stock pickups. I don't think the custom shop sell pickups from their '65 and '66 models individually, but those are the closest you could get. Do they sell a generic '60s pickup? I can't check right now. From what I recall, the '69s are quite high-output ones, so not necessarily as accurate a match as might be expected.
