I use 10-46 on my Strat and really like the way the feel and sound. To me, the heavier the set, the thicker my tone is. Heavier strings will be stretched tighter to acheive the correct note frequency giving more punch when struck with a pick and much more responsive to finger work.

As far as brand, I can't say enough about Dean Markley Blue Steels! I've used Fender Bullets, Super Bullets, Ernie Ball Slinky's, D'Addario's, GHS Boomers and the Elixirs. The Blue Steels by far beat all of them in tone. As far as durability, they are the only string that hasn't broken on me at some point. I've used Blue Steels for over 2 years and change them about every 3 months. I practice almost everyday and play live every weekend. You can get them at www.sweetwater.com for about 6 bucks a set with free shipping.
