You don't like the stock ones?

Before recommending a pickup change, I want to know what kind of amp you use. You may be better off buying a better amp to get the blues sound you want.

Indeed, the type of amp has a lot to do with the guitar's tone. That said, I have a set of CS Fat '50s that produce some of the best blues tones (to my ear).

The original poster should be able to get good sounds out of the Delta Tone pickups in that American Standard Strat.

Helpful Hint: Lower the pickups. Turn up the amplifier.

I was planning on putting the Seymour Duncan Jeff Beck humbucker in one of my non Fender guitars :D . Unfortunately it didn't fit, they said they could modify the guitar, in order to fit it. I didn't fancy my baby being drilled etc, so I got them to stick a Quarter Pounder in. I've been messing with it all day, I'm getting some amazing bluesy tones. I'm getting hooked on this "mod yer axe" business, the difference in this guitar is night and day. I left the original neck pup in, as I really like it.

I love my Texas Specials, and not just for blues. I'd recommend watching the demos that people post on youtube to get an idea of what the different pickups sound like to help in your decision. I ended up with the Texas Specials because after watching videos and reading reviews, it seemed like they were what I was after.

Kinman Blues set. I've tried Custom Shop 54s, SCNs and Dimarzio Virtual Vintage pickups. The Kinman's are far and away the best I've played.
