Can you use it to clean a noisy volume pot? Or do I need to get actual electrical contac cleaner. Thanks. Mike

Hi Mike,

Yeah you really need to use contact cleaner for this...Before the "Digital" age took over, I used to work on all kinds of "movable" electric parts. I learned the hard way about wd 40 :D

Don't ever, ever, ever spray WD-40 in your pots.

And don't buy that contact cleaner they sell at Radio SHack (nohting but pressurized alcohol, as far as I can tell). Get real and get DeOxIt D-5. Cleans and restores pots, switches, and all types of electrical contacts. I've heard it actually improve the sound of guitars (my own included) with a few spritzes.

MF carries it.

Never Ever use WD 40 for any other reason than to loosen rusted frozen screws or bolts.
WD 40 is extremely corrosive to any petroleum based parts, such as rubber, plastic etc...etc...

If you read the label, there is quite awarning about this products misuse..
