Not sure which pedal I should get and since I had no input, you guys asked for it, now there's a poll.

$150 http://www.tech21nyc.com/products/effects/boostrvb.html

$200 http://www.leejackson.com/MrSpringgy_pedal.html

And they both have audio samples.

Looks a good idea Mr Springy! I've been looking for something like that for my Tweed Bassman!

That is my point also, I play mostly through my Champ Tweed but I lack the reverb as you do.

Did you check the sound samples from both?

I just bought a Swart Space Tone... the little 5-Watt one, like a Champ. I decided to get a reverb pedal to go with it so it's all over and done with, and I've ordered a Mr Springgy. It was getting too annoying missing out on eBay auctions where I wouldn't have saved much money anyway, and the Springgy sounded like the best substitute for amp reverb to my ears... I want a set-and-forget box with one knob. Then I'll have one volume, one tone and one reverb knob, which suits me fine. Hanging out to hear (a) the Swart (it's sitting here at work with me) and (b) the Swart with a touch of 'verb (I hope Mr Springgy doesn't take too long to reach Australia!)

You're in the same position as me. A pure clean tone of the simple 5f1 circuit but no reverb. I've watched ebay for some time too but havent found any deal there either. Lee Jackson builds each pedal custom on demand, I believe it takes 10 days to get shipped then shipping time to australia. Let us know what it's like when you plug it in, I believe you wont be disappointed.

heh... yes, the built-to-order side of things appealed to me, as well. I had put in a couple of bids on a T-Rex Room Mate, but then I revisited the Springgy web page and thought "Damn, I'd be better off ordering one of these things new... it's a less gimmicky sound, hope I lose the auction..."

I'm not totally opposed to solid-state stuff, but it seems a shame to stick anything but a good analogue unit in front of a resolutely all-tube point-to-point etc, etc amp. The amplifier would appear to be the 350th one that Mr Swart has built... it even smells good! Tweed, Lacquer and pine... mmm.

Mrs mondo doesn't know I've bought the amp yet (hence its place at my feet here at work)... so, uh, once I negotiate the homecoming and produce "this old pedal I've had for ages but never really had any use for" I will let you know how it sounds!

I got my tweed on ebay, not sure who even made it, no signature anywhere. Although it is very well wired. Was scared until I received it, I didnt really like buying an amp through ebay but it worked out well and couldnt pass the price. Some good deals to be had on saturday and sunday mornings on ebay.

It's true that it would be a shame to plug some crappy pedal on those things and kill the tone. I use 2 wahs, 2 TS9s and a fuzz, and soon to be a reverb :) Pedals are good to have but not good to overuse, I use most of them close to their lowest settings.

Good luck delivering the news to the wife :) Beside it was only natural to get that amp, you dont want that old reverb pedal to keep on rusting away.

OK, I have yet to road test Mr Springgy but it arrived today at work. I'm impressed at the delivery time -- exactly one week after payment, all the way from Austin Texas to Sydney Australia. Must have had this one in stock to get it out that quickly. It comes with a power supply with adaptors for just about every region of the planet as well, which is nice... not overly impressed by the plastic input jacks and cheesy "Mr Springgy" sticker, but I guess Lee Jackson has to turn as much of a profit as he can. As long as it sounds good! I'll report back when I've got something... I've succeeded in smuggling the Swart into the house, but I'll have to wait until my 1-year-old son will let me play with my toys...

Speedy delivery for sure. I dont really care about the looks. However I am waiting for your report on the sound, havent ordered mine yet and something's greatly amiss in my sound. Congratulations on the smuggling, what did you do? Hid it in a crate under coffee? I know how women can smell new electronics.

well... haven't been able to test it exhaustively ( I'm having to type this with baby on my knee), but the audio clips don't lie. Mr Springgy is a perfect simulation of amp spring reverb. It's totally silent... only the blue LED tells you whether it's on or off; it may as well be a part of my amp, except it won't make a deafening crash if I bump it! Very impressed here, as it's not so often these days that anything performs its intended function EXACTLY as stated. It's like I dropped twice the cash on a Swart tweed reverb amp (although... I guess I'd need to find a tremelo unit that performed this well, too). Best investment in pedal form I've made.

uhh... I'm kind of embarrassed by my playing at the moment, to be honest... plus I'm not well equipped just now to make any uninterrupted recordings of anything. I certainly wouldn't be able to do better than this guy:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqujWmPbSe0

...but it is a great little pedal, makes me want to play more than I can get away with. If I do get to practice it, I'd like one day to put up a recording of Satie's Gymnopodie #3... that's just begging to be played on a mid-'60s style strat through a period-style amp, and buried in reverb! Something to think about...

Ok, finally got a Springgy. Found one on eBay for $175, new, free shipping. It sounds everything as I expected and more. Really great at the end of the chain.

12 o'clock for Lenny, 3 o'clock for Pipeline, 9 o'clock for everything else that just needs a little verb.
