I have a strat with a string spread at the bridge of just 2-1/32". I believe this is smaller than standard. If I put in a set of vintage noiseless pickups, will the pole pieces be too far apart for my axe?

Also, does anyone know in general what the specs are for this pickup --- the Fender web page is very sparse on specifics. Does anyone know where to find a dimensioned diagram of the pup so that I can be sure it will fit before I order it. And can anyone say for sure what the impedance of the pots are that come with it (I've heard 500k and 1 Meg from various sources). And can the pups be split --- the picture shows extra wires coming off of the thing, but I haven't been able to find any wiring diagrams for this pup.

Thanks for your help!

The pole spread on the Vintage Noiseless is just under 2 inches for the neck and mid pups, and just over 2 inches for the bridge pup when measuring between the centers of the two E-string poles. The pickup height from the base to the top of the cover is about 0.75 inches, and the DC resistance of each is the same at 9.8k with an inductance of 3.0 Henries.

The pups are also not designed to be split.

Using 1 meg pots with these is often overkill and will give them a razors edge that can be hard to dial-away. I would stick with 500k pots. Not sure what they are including with them these daze. They should have designed them right in the first place. The Hot Noiseless is a better choice IMO.

Thanks for your help. Fender could really give a lot more information on their web page, and I never received an answer from an email I sent them. They should give you a sales commission for your help!

well the type of pups you get also depends on what type of music you're gonna play... I mean, some metal people would want that kind of razor's edge. we were talking about that on our site and people were throwing down a whole bunch of different combinations depending on the style of whoever was asking at the time. in any case good luck.. blackdiamond13
