Sure, I started this thread fourteen months ago to discuss DIY pickups.

Are you planning on trying to wind some pickups of your own?
Or perhaps you already do?

Learning to deal with (strip and solder) that very skinny wire is the hardest part. But once you get the hang of it, those pickups aren't very scary (or mystical) things.

Lots of things one can do with pickups then: repair them, remove wire from them (to reduce the output), add wire (to fatten them up), change the magnetic polarity (to make RWRP sets), etc.

I have been looking into it but have not tried yet. Winding and soldering are no problem, I've worked with this stuff before on other hobby projects. What I'm interested in is trying different magnets to see what results I can get. I saw a cylindrical magnet that is rifle bored I would like to try first to see what, if any effect it would have.

i try to make my own "home made" pickup...
i used some copper wire..some magnets...and a wire...
i roll the wire in the metal stick..
i place it in a box..(somewhat a matchstick box)
then..inside the box...there are magnets...
i place the wire in the box with the magnets..
after that...
when i placed it in my guitar..
the sounds..are SH*T....
wew..
a lots of feedbacks can be heard..
heheheheh..

Check out this site for magnets. They have some I want to try.
