I bought some! And am having a stab at fitting them on Monday - normally I pay to get it done but I reckon I can do it myself, seems straighforward. Anyway, just to let you know I'll be posting a youtube video with a demo, later on this feed - if anyone's interested.

Thanks!

Thanks fhopkins, it was actually this post (which I think you had an input on) that helped me decide!

I installed some FAT 502 in my 95 50th Anniversary..(Black with maple neck) I play with a 1971 Fender twin reverb....And Boy they are awsome..............I play alot of delta blues and they get the job done.......................Now that I know you have some I have a question
On the middle pup of the Fat 50 does the poles sit lower almost flat with the cover?
It seams like the NECK & Bridge pup the poles sit higher...The high E and the bext string B pole sit almost flush with the plastic cover But O was wondering if the middle pup sit almost flush with the cover...

Now is it possible that the poles can fall in or are they fixed to where they do not move?

I'm very interested too. Please keep any effects to a minimum, so we can hear the pickups cleanly.

I have that too yes - however I can't see it for a couple of days because...

I FAILED at wiring. I normally take it to the store. I made it all crappy as my soldering iron wasn't strong enough. So after spending money on solder, an iron, a sponge (and also a new 5 way switch as I broke it), I ended up taking it to the store to be tidied up and redone.

Shame on me.

Should get it on Friday, maybe earlier - and I'll post up a video with clean sounds as well as driven tones - check back asap my friends.

WE are a patient bunch, normally! I only have the CS fat 50 in the neck position on one guitar. I'll tell you the pup I like the best on that guitar is the SD SSL-5 in combo with the 50! So ,if I'm right you are putting 50s in all 3 positions. Excuse me if you've already answered but my mind is "slippin slippin into the future"........ :)

OK, so now the pickups have been fitted, and I've gotten it back. Furious though as the middle pickup had come slightly unwound but the tech sorted that for me.

Video will be up within the next few hours people. Any particular requests apart from hearing the clean sounds?

Thanks!

Ed.

More important is do you like them as well as you thought you would? Any better to your ears than what you had? Hope so but everyone is different. Good luck my friend!

Oh yeah, I love them. Interestingly the difference is subtle, but I love the small difference it has made. So much more full and dynamic!!

How did you wire the SSL-5 with the 50s. did you switch the leads? im in the process of putting fat 50s in the neck and middle with the SSL-5 in the bridge.

I didn't do the wiring. I bought a CS Gilmour and Fender did it. It has a CS Fat50 in the neck CS69 in middle and the SSL-5 in the bridge. There must be a schematic here somewhere.
