Hi all,

Just picked up a pretty old looking Fender Hardshell case for cheap.
Can you by any chance tell me how old this case is by looking at its design? Is it something that is considered as "vintage" or "collectible?"

Thanks for your help...

Here's the picture of the case, next to my Tele...

I am most likely wrong but I don't think it is vintage. But admittedly I know nothing about it. I'm thinking the material is some sort of a plastic type material. I've never seen one like this but most old ones were a tweed type material. Don't take my thoughts on it though as I'm sure someone else here knows. I hope it is for your sake.
BTW, what model tele is that? Nice! :)

fhopkins: Thank you for the link. I check the info there, but didn't see anything about rectangular plastic Fender case. I assume it was because this case was not that "vintage."
But still, curious to know how old this is...

Oh by the way, the Tele next to the case is the new model (08) American Standard Tele with Ash body in Crimson Red Transparent finish.
I just got this as used, but it didn't come with the OHSC. So I went and bought that case in question...

I bought a 1987 Strat with the same case, and I believe it to be the original case for that guitar.

I bought an America Strat in 1987 that I got new, and it came with this same case...

If you put in on Ebay, you can sell it as vintage with a road worn/relic finish

I think it's a SKB case made for Fender in the nineties. I have one for my Strat Ultra.

That's an eighties case and the first widely used plastic Fender case. The original Precision Bass Specials came in those cases back in 1982.

I beleive that they were used throughout that decade (1980s).

I have two of them that I aquired with used instruments and those cases work well as long as you don't hit them hard during cold weather because the plastic gets brittle and it will crack.
