What pickups do you throw into your favorite Fender?

Or do you use stock?

As much as I like this forum, when it comes to help choosing pickups it leaves alot to be desired. Everyone is glad to make suggestions and tell you how much they like their pickups, but unless they tell you what type of music they play it isn't very helpfull. I play a variety of music ranging from folk, country, Praise and Worship songs, and some mellow classic rock. Clean fingerpicking and chording. If someone else plays Metal or uses alot of distortion, their setup isn't going to work for me no matter how happy they are with it. Chet Atkins wouldn't have sounded very good using Jeff Becks's guitar or vice-versa. Some people play country, some play surf, jazz, blues, or hard rock - if they don't tell you what they play when they recommend pickups it is basically useless info.

Then again, if you are just curious as to what others are doing, I'm leaving my bridge humbucker as it is, swapping the mid for a SD Cool Rail, and the neck for a SD Lil 59.

I kept the stock one's in my Strat. They sound fine, but make a little noise, but the nothing terrible and I like them. The only one's I've changed out were in my Dean...they were awful. A SD SH-6 and Lace are in it now.

Texas Specials in one, Vintage Noiseless in the other. They both sound great, and they're both fairly different too, so I have a good variety of sounds I can get with them.

In my main strat, a MIM thank you very much.. I use:

A lace red red dually in the bridge, a lace sensor silver in the mid, and a lace sensor blue in the neck. My red red dually has a coil split switch attatched.

And my one tone goes to my neck, and unlike most strats, my other tone goes to my bridge.

It sings, literally.

Tex Mex in my '04 MIM Strat Std -- These pups IMO provide the most bang for the buck, for sure. It's no surprise that Fender is using them on more and more guitars in their product line. They are a very nice pup that can out perform some more expensive pups.

I have stock pu's in my favorite Strat Ultra, Lace sensors. Blue in the neck, gold in the middle, and a dually red/red in the bridge. I like them because they are noiseless and have great sustain. The Blue and Reds are hotter than the more normal gold version. But I can get a p90 sound using the Blue version, only (position 5). I get a standard strat sound in the 2nd and 4th positions, using combinations of Gold & Blue, and Gold & Red. The middle position is strange , but combines the blue and the red dually (position 3).

The Dually reds have a switch to toggle between the two or I can have both on in position 1.

If there was a wish to modify I would get another lower resistance Lace to replace the blue bridge. But it sounds great, like it is. And its a MIA.

I am of those "people". But I still give the MIM Std pups love. Also, even though not in this forum, the overwelming majority of MIM Std owners leave the stock ones in.
