I have a Telecaster that I had custom built for me 20+ years ago that is a Schecter body and everything else Fender (Guitar techs had a bunch of parts laying around) It is set up like an Esquire with only the bridge pickup. It's a really great guitar I even had it autographed by James Burton years ago when I got to play with him in his son's garage studio. I am currently working on a project that is kind of like if Motorhead had Hank Williams Sr. as thier frontman. So, I need a pickup that will still give me some great country twang but still be beefy enough to do the Harcore Metal sound. Any suggestions?

For anyone who is unsure about what pickups to go with, I say you can't go wrong with Fender Custom Shop Nocasters. They really cover a lot of ground.

Consider a humbucker that can be coil-tapped (a 4-wire). You would have to modify your guitar to add a coil tap switch or possibly use a push-pull knob.

With a coil-tapped humbucker you could switch between single-coil and humbucker.
