I am thinking about setting up a 2001 Stratocaster Standard with a quick disconnect set-up for the pickguard assembly so I can change from one set of electronics to another without resoldering. Has anyone tried this? Does anyone know what kind of connector EMG uses for their quick disconnect system?
I have gathered so many parts over the years that I can have 3 different loaded pickguards ready to install, and am looking to play with the idea of just plugging it in.

I don't know what EMG (and I have heard Gibson is doing this now too) uses, but I would think its all just wires, just find a connector for the proper gauge and amount of wires you have. A google search of: quick connect wire connectors yields lots of results...

It sounds like a cool idea, but it also sounds like more places for something to go wrong.
I would think that if it was a good idea the major guitar companies would have picked up on the idea by now.

Gibson has started doing this in Les Pauls:

Or do you not consider Gibson to be a major guitar company

Interesting, I was not aware that they were trying them.

Oh, wait. That's the steel plate setup that Gibson uses. I had that in an R6 that I had a couple of years ago. I removed all that and went with conventional wiring.
