I started using Mel Bay Blacks around '65 or so. Back then the picks came in a box with Mel Bay's picture on it...same pic as his guitar lesson books.
I've always liked the "snap" they had. These days, these picks are still made...not under the Mel Bay name. I don't know who has taken over the manufacturing...I'm just glad that they have, so I must not be the only one that requires them.
I've tried other picks that were talked about but I always ended going back to MB's.

If I don't have a real pick handy(sometimes the kids "borrow" them, I've been known to grab anything - poker chip, those flat little square things they use to close a loaf of bread, the tab from a Pepsi can, whatever is handy. Sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised.
