I have a squier se special edition strat that I am learning on. I have the oppurtunity to get a brand new set of vintage noiseless pickups at a great price. I know new that cost about as much as my whole starter kit did but they will work with the squier and make a big difference in sound quality, right?

I've often wondered why the VN pups aren't more popular (not that they aren't liked) - - they have fantastic vintage Fender tone, and ZERO noise!

Yeah, if you can get them real cheap, then snatch 'em up.

I recently replaced the pickups in my $100 Squier Strat with $200 Fender Custom Shop Texas Specials and WOW! I can't believe how much better it sounds and all the great tones I'm getting out of it. I also have Vintage Noiseless pickups in my MIM Fender, and it's a great improvement. Pure Strat tone, no noise. It doesn't get any better than that. 8)

Keep in mind that the Vintage Noiseless pickups have a fairly bright tone and if you want to play deep, warm blues or drop tuned, full on metal fury they probably aren't going to work. That's not to say you can't play those styles with VNs, it would just have a different tone that may not sound right.

The vintage noiseless don't sound that great with the 250k pots you are likely using now. If the great price is for the pickups by themselves and you have to spend more for the pots then it might not be that good of a deal after all. Just something to think about.

According to the Squier p/m list, most guitars have 500k pots. Either way, this will probably benefit your playing, not to mention, the need to mod.

I could be wrong, but thought most came with 250's and to get any warmth out of the vintage you need at least 750k.

Possibly, but that's what I found at least.

Are you talking tone pot or volume?

Think I was looking at a Vintage kit awhile back and they came with 1 meg pots. If you just swap them out from another guitar without changing the pots you aren't going to get the same sound. Then again how many other pickups would sound right through 1 megs? Maybe the OP can talk the guy into throwing them in too.

Forgive my stupidity, but what does OP stand for?

Like that list shows, some are 250k volume and some are 500k. The main issue is that that exact model isn't listed. The SE and the Affinity are a bit different from each other.
