Hello all

I have a burning question for my first post:
I own a Telecaster Standard, but I'm in the market for an upgrade.

I hear good thing of the tele vintage '52 pickups, but are those pickups good for playing genre rock/hard rock through a Marshall TSL100?

I don't want to buy and install those vintage '52 pickups in my tele and then find out it doesn't sound that good.

I there is a better choice, what would you choose? Maybe the vintage '62?

thanks in advance ...

I heard someone playing with the '52s and asked him about them because they sounded very good to my ears. They are made with alnico 3 magnets and had a good 'bite' to them.

Specifications:

Bridge
DC Resistance 7.2K
Inductance 3.27 Henries

Neck
DC Resistance 7.7K
Inductance 2.45 Henries

Due to the few responses, let me rewrite my question:

Is it a good idea to place vintage '52 pickups in my tele, knowing that I play through a Marshall TSL100?

take a look at www.lollarguitars.com , Jason Lollar offers 4 different tele pickups which all sound great, you can call him and he'll make a recommendation, any of his pups should sound great through the 3 channels of the TSL, you also want to change the capacitor to a paper in oil type .47, go to www.angela.com

Go on youtube and search for Tele's with Texas Specials.

Also, if you wire them with a 4 way switch they sound pretty dang good in series with a little distortion !!

GREAT sounding pickups !

For your " rock " the vintage may be too ice picky (esp the bridge) and "twangy" for you.

To directly answer your question, no to both pickups. The bridge pickup will be tinny and the neck pickup will be muddy. You will constantly be compromising the settings of one pickup over the other through the amp to make either one sound 'decent'.

From experience, I've found the best single coil combo for what you are looking for is a DiMarzio Twang King for the neck and either a Duncan Broadcaster or DiMarzio Pre B-1 for the bridge.

As always, this is merely IMO; YMMV.

I have a new american standard and put a 52-reissue in the bridge and a lollar vintage in the neck position. Holy Grail! Great tone.
