I'm rewiring my s-s-s standard to h-s-s and I'd like to have the 1st position (all the way down) run the humbucker and the second position (one click up) split the humbucker without activating the middle pickup, and the other positions the same as stock. Is this possible or will I have to run a mini-toggle to split the humbucker? I realize I can split the humbucker and add the middle but I don't really have any use for that sound, I just thought it would be nice and clean without any other toggles added for the splitting.

Check into this forum a little. There is a thread on exactly that topic, and it has wiring diagrams included.

Think I would leave the 5 way alone and use a push/pull pot to split the bridge. That way you can use HB bridge, split the bridge to noisecancell with the mid if you decide later that you like that option, or run singlecoil in the bridge by itself if that is what you really want. I don't like extra toggles either. I bought an HSS because my SSS had too much hum when using bridge alone - now have hum on bridge/mid since mine doesn't split in pos 2.
