PLEASE don't take this sarcastically:

If you are new to the whole guitar thing, pickups should be the least of your concerns at this early stage. Concentrate on your technique from within rather than using pickups to coax a style. Down the road, you'll have heard MANY pickups and pickup combinations. You'll then know which pickups you personally require.

I say "ditto" I played for years on an old Tiesco Del Ray 25.00 from a pawn shop and an acoustic with an action like the Golden Gate Bridge. Then when you get a better guitar you'll go "hey this is easy!" WORK is going to make you better not new pickups.

I have been playing for 45 years and I agree with the others. Develope your technique. Look to others and find what works for you.

Also consider that the amplifier is a critical piece of the puzzle.

What kind of amp do you have?

Invest in a good amp before buying expensive aftermarket guitar parts (which won't sound good through a crummy amp anyways).

I`m playing since 1958 and I have to agree with the others. Pick ups don`t make you play any better, practice does.
