i like to use different kinds of cables.

from my guitar to effects, i use a planet waves cable, with the compression springs. which is nice, because you don't have to worry about the cable pulling out of the guitar if you accidentally step on it while playing.

between effects, I use little patch cables. I don't know the brand. i bought like 6 of them for 10 bucks.

from effects to the amp, I use a cheap rubbery black cable that I got at Guitar Center. it is like 15 feet long, and cost me 5 bucks. it is low quality, and awful. and I love it.

cables do make a difference on tone, but you shouldn't have to pay $100 for a 15 foot cable. completely ridiculous.

Gotta go with Planet Waves or Monster cables. I bought one of each at the same time. No problems from either one. I've been using them over a year now. Every other cable I tried lasted only 2-6 mo.

I use a combo of Monster, Planet Waves and Spectraflex cables. Sounds good... :)

Fenders Koils are very good cables, but I get most cables from friends, schools and 'recycle-trash-rooms' (don't know the US word for it, but some place where people put all sort of stuff they don't need any longer but is still (partially)usable, like stereos, furniture, dvds, wires cables and such things)... most people just throw out a fine cable like Planet Waves(ex.) cause it's broken at the jack, I just cut 5-10 centimeters off and put on a new jack connector, cost me 20-50 Kr.(4-10$)
A bonus is that I often find a couple of vinyls to either add to the collection, give to others or sell :P

Nej det er det ikke :)

In Aage Jensen(the primary music store in Denmark, lowest prices, widest range, most Fenders, most stores(3) etc.) single jack-jack male plugs sell from 4-25$ 1$=5,01.kr
Fender Platinum Electric cable 9m is 695 kr., Mogami Platinum Silent Instrument 5 meters is 715kr. and a Planet Waves PWGS25 Custom Serie stereo cable 6m is 305kr.

top is cheapest plug and bottom is the most expensive (plugs survive much longer than a cable so once you get some good ones just bring them onto the next cable when the cable is finally dead once and for all, also I'm sure a cleaning job on the plugs would be a nice thing 2)

Just look for those teens with a cheap Epi LP or Ibanez guitar hanging at their knees and a Boss distortion with everything that produces distortion set to MAX with no thought of care for the tone(no offenses any1), they seem to have a tendency to break their cables, get drunk and then give a $@!& about everything and end up leaving without it :D

haven't tried making my own cables with one of the 'cable-factory-boxes' (like George L's) but I consider trying it, If any1 has any experiences with this please tell me

some bastard cable made of a high quality Van Den Hul cable with George L plugs could rule the world, As i think about it, I hate myself for not having tried this so far

I don't really like Fender Koils any more, decided to give it a try again and guess what, it was dead, haven't had it for two months and it hadn't been played for more than around 10 hours. I really hope I just got a bad 1, just makes me a bit frustrated not to be able to take it apart and see if it's just the soldering(atachment)

wow, that got pretty long, sure it's pretty boring to read

I bought a fender gold premium 12foot cable - I plugged the damn thing in and it was faulty. I sorta just thought to myself, "you're gonna get a faulty one every now and then", so I took it back, got it replaced and it's lovely. It works amazing with all fender gear. I'm gonna get me a platinum one next, heard good things about 'em!

I've tried dimarzio cables and monster cables, and IMO the Fender Koils out perform the others I've tried. I know this is all subjective anyway. 8) We all go with what works for each of us. 8)

In my never-ending quest to spend money, I bought a 25' Mogami Gold cable a few weeks back. So far I have been happy with the cable. To my ear, the Mogami sounds "smoother" than the Monsters I have, particularly in the low-mids. Of course this is by "my ear". I also put an order in for a cable with Butch at http://www.bayoucables.com/
