I used to use only Monster Studio Pro cables until I found the Planet Waves Custom cables with the compression springs. Both have a lifetime warranty but the Studio Pro cables are really thick and stiff whereas the PW are flexible and thinner. The PW cables also have really nice strain relief in the cables as well. I paid $150 for my 21' Monster SP cable. The Planet Waves cables are 1/3 the cost with the same warranty and the difference in sound is negligible.

I use the Monster cables, but I have 2 cables that have the Fender logo on the plugs on each end, and they are my favorite cables.

I THINK the brand might be whirlwind or something. I got them free when I bought my Clapton signature back in 1990. And get ready for this... YES... they still work without even a crackle.

I have my "good" Monster cables, but also have a plethora of home made, and other various cables that I use.

Any low capacitance cable with good connectors works as well as any other. George L's are great, or you can buy bulk low-cap Belden cable and Switchcraft jacks and wire up the best cables you can buy, at a fraction of the cost of store-bought.

Not to take anything away from anyone, but Monster cable is a triumph of marketing over truth.

Well, what I like about the Moster Cables is that our local guitar centers will give you a new one if you ever bring your old monster in b/c it is crackling, or not working. Doesn't matter if it isn't working b/c you roll your cab over it a few times a night. Ya get another.

I used to throw cables out when they would start to crackle, now I'll just swing by GC and get the free replacement.

I prefer to buy a brand that you don't have to take back (I've heard hundreds of failure stories about Monster cables).

Monster is a joke, as are their ridiculous claims for sonic superiority.

"Well, see, with this here special bass cable, the high frequencies are slowed down so they reach the amp at the same time as the lows, resulting in better phase and a more solid sound."

Hand to god, that's what a mom 'n' pop store owner told me, trying to sell me a 90 buckazoid Monster bass cable that I'm sure he had marked up at least 100%.

if you believe that kind of hype, you deserve to spend 90 bucks on a bass cable.

I went back to using Fender California cables, priced right and they last quite a while. I had two Planet Waves cables die on me after a few months of relatively light use. Does Monster have a replacement guarantee or is it just a GC or SA offer?

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone tried out our new cables? (ie - Platinum/ Gold/ Koil Kords)

http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?section=accessories&cat=cables

If you truly love tone, that's what these cables protect and deliver.

Thanks for making this forum great! Check 'em out.

Billy

Billy, I had bought a Fender cable with a woven jacket a few years back, and discovered that the jack plug was slightly smaller than the plug on my other cables. This caused it to ratlle around in the jacks, sometimes shorting out. Other friends who had purchased these cables observed the same thing. Has this been corrected on the newer cables?

Hey Tele295 -

Yes - we upgraded our connectors a few years back.

Our entire cable line now is leaps and bounds superior to anything we've done before. More to come.....

Thanks much!
Billy
