Would the pickups from an American Vintage 62 Strat be an upgrade over the pickups in a '90's MIM Strat?

My son took the pickups out of his '62 Vintage and put in Lollars.

I can't help but notice that the vintage pickups look better and would go well with the Vintage White strat I have with the Tortoise shell pick guard.

Would they sound better as well? I like blues and classic rock. SRV

What kind of pups are in there now? The usual MIM Std ceramics? You mentioned "tortoise shell pickguard" which if it came with guitar sounds like a higher end MIM?

Yes they are an upgrade but they might have lower output too which you might like :)

I just got the prewired tortoiseshell ,cream covers, knobs from GFS for my MIK Olympic White Fender Stratocaster . I was a bit disappointed w/ the PUs being ceramic until I noticed the quality 500pots & wiring.
Now that slightly overwound sound is a great improvement over the stock electrics.
I would not hesitate to replace your electrics w/ your son's parts,
especially if you've got the minipots as I had.
