I just picked up a Fender Deluxe Gig Bag for a project guitar that I'm working on. If you like the portability of a gig bag, but want more protection, the Fender Deluxe Gig Bag is definitely worth the extra $5 over the Fender Standard Gig Bag.

Of course, cases give the best protection, but these Deluxe bags are pretty easy to get used to.

I have a pair of these bags for my 2 Squiers. They seem very well made and work well.

I'll order a hard case one of these days.

I also have a Fender Gig bag for my Strat. Very well made and not as heavy to carry around as the inevitable case, but like MM said, cases are better for protection.

I use gigbags almost exclusively. The Fender Deluxe bags are pretty good, the one that came with my MIM Esquire has started coming apart at the seams after 2-1/2 years of hard gigging. The clips on the shoulder straps are also on the weak side. Hardware store!!!!
